Wow, where has the time gone?

It feels like just yesterday when the insurance world was just getting to grips with electronic document management systems and storing their documents digitally in secure document repositories instead of using those old metal-filling cabinets and ugly yellow folders. (Heaven help us if someone put the document into the incorrect yellow folder – it disappeared into the abyss of the filing cabinet. Let’s not talk about how many trees were lost in the mass printing of emails and documents that needed to be manually filed into those yellow folders – the “good” old days.)

But just as quickly as many of our insurance friends started to move into the world of storing their documents digitally in document repositories. Along came the need to start moving those documents around digitally. Workflows and process automation became the next hot topic, and ensuring that the right person was working on the right work, at the right time was critical.

Let’s face it, desks- in and out trays at this stage were starting to look like ornaments, as staff were attaching documents to emails. But this was a dangerous exercise as these documents were floating around and possibly out of the business, instead of sitting securely in a repository.

Workflows and process automation allowed us to move the case information and refer back to the document. Definitely a lot more secure and effective, and did I mention allowed businesses to track what was happening with, load balance and pick up bottlenecks?

  • And we are routing the work to the right person at the right time, with staff accountable for their actions.

The next aspect for us to tackle is bringing the customer closer to our business, and allowing them to become part of the process.

  • By introducing solutions to your customers that allow them to complete forms from their mobile devices quickly and effectively, at any time of the day or night.
  • Ensuring customers can sign documents from their mobile devices and verify the information they have captured as well as upload supporting documents by taking a picture from their mobile devices instead of having to find a scanner.
  • Allowing the customer to become part of your process, to speed up the turnaround time.
